PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
In order to complete this program, you need 120 credits to graduate which includes the following:
Total Credits 120 credit hours
Additionally, you will need to take 45 of the 120 credit hours in residence meaning that the 45 hours must be taken at UIW.
Additionally, you will need to complete 45 community service hours.

general core education credits will vary depending on the amount or previous
college work that you have completed. These courses may be taken online or
through traditional classroom instruction.

* Statistics must be taken
prior to or concurrently with Nursing Research.
* A self learning module may be arranged for fulfilling 3 hours in religious
studies.
* Students needing pre-requisite requirements in science and nutrition, self
learning modules are also available.
* Students lacking hours in the sciences, may request waiver for up to seven
credits. Seven credits with at least one of the sciences with a lab will meet
the science requirement; however, hours would need to be made up in other course
hours to ensure enough credits are fulfilled for graduation.
MAJOR NURSING COURSES
Students begin taking these courses in a cohort. Cohorts begin twice per year - January and August. These courses are offered online. Community Health Nursing Practicum is the only course which will require a practicum where you will attend classes in a clinical environment. Nursing Leadership Practicum does not require attendance at classes in a clinical environment.

VALIDATED NURSING HOURS
These hours are awarded following completion of the first nursing course - Professional Nursing Role. You must pass this course with a grade of C or higher for the hours to be awarded.

ELECTIVES
Although most nursing students will have taken courses in other disciplines, you will be required to have courses in several different disciplines, i.e. courses in sociology, psychology, religion, sciences, etc are acceptable.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Mandatory New Nurse Orientation. You will be required to attend a two - day orientation prior to starting your nursing classes. Attendance is mandatory. At this forum, you will be introduced to the faculty, meet administrative and instructional technology staff. You will learn about the university and the school of nursing. Additionally, you will have short workshops in college writing and introduction to the instructional software used to teach in the program.
Community Service Hours. You will be required to complete 45 hours of community service. These hours are clock hours and can be accomplished at any time during the period that you are matriculating in the nursing program.

*This plan of study can be completed on a full or part time basis. The undergraduate portion of the curriculum is presented online while the graduate portion is hybrid using traditional classroom and online methods of presentation. Classroom courses are taught during weekdays in the evening.
